🙅 What inFin Isn't Good At
We'll be upfront about it.
inFin focuses on the path of "capture, internalize, output" — not on being all things to all people. If you need the following capabilities, we recommend using a dedicated tool.
| You need | We suggest |
|---|---|
| Outlined notes / structured writing | 幕布, Notion |
| Long-form collaboration & team knowledge base | Notion, 飞书文档, 语雀 |
| Serious to-dos and project management | 滴答清单, Notion, Jira |
| Polished mind maps | XMind, MindNode |
| Spreadsheets and databases | Airtable, 飞书多维表格 |
| Bidirectional-linked networked notes | Obsidian, Roam Research |
| Team collaboration and comments | 飞书, Notion |
| Professional psychological counseling | Please find a professional |
Why We Don't Also Do These Things
Making a tool that "can do a little of everything" usually ends up doing everything "just okay."
And the more features, the more likely they are to get in the way of recording itself.
We always remember one thing: no matter how many features, they must not get in the way of recording itself.
inFin focuses on reducing the steps needed to start recording, so you can save what you hear, see and think.
That moment usually isn't when you're sitting at a desk — it's when you're walking, in a meeting, in class, or scrolling your phone.
The Boundaries of "Deep Insight"
To be clear: Deep Insight does use psychological theories (Beck's cognitive therapy, flow theory, etc.), but —
We don't diagnose, we don't label, we don't draw conclusions for you.
It only reads back to you the sentence you wrote yourself.
If you need professional help, please find a professional. See Two Rules and Boundaries.
But It Plays Well with Other Tools
inFin is positioned on the input side and internalize side:
- Use inFin to capture what you heard, saw, and thought;
- Use inFin to see what you're thinking;
- Use Export to send the organized content into your real knowledge base or writing tool.
Each doing its own job works better than jamming everything into one tool.
By the Way
Thanks to Notion for inspiring inFin a lot.
Thanks as well to every user who's left us feedback on RedNote and on the App Store — every "I wish it could…" is on our list.
