🎛️ How to Use Deep Insight

Open inFin, enter "Note Insights," pick a range, choose a perspective, and let it do the rest.

Three steps. That's it.

Step 1: Pick a Range

Insight is a conversation with yourself, so first decide "which notes to bring to this conversation."

Common ways to choose:

  • By time: the last week, the last month — good for periodic self-review;
  • By tag: e.g. #Work/Transition, #Personal Notes — good for seeing the full picture of a topic;
  • By type: voice notes only, or clippings only — good for seeing the structure of your input;
  • All notes: the widest span, and the easiest way to see long-term patterns.

💡 Suggestion: for the first time, pick "Last Month" + one of the tags you use most often. Too large a range and the insight loses focus; too small and you can't see the pattern.

Step 2: Pick a Perspective

Six perspectives, six different keys. See Six Perspectives.

Not sure which to pick? Here's a mapping:

How you're feeling right now Suggested perspective
Can't put your finger on what's been off lately Inner Compass
Don't know what you really want Value Mining
Your thinking has shifted a lot, want to see the arc Thought Trail
Always tired, but can't say why Energy
Keep going around the same place Mindset
Been thinking a long time, just haven't moved Action Guide

Step 3: Wait a Moment, Then Read

Generation takes a little time (depending on the volume and range of notes). When it's done, you'll get a piece of writing that belongs only to you.

It might make you pause, it might make you want to argue back, it might make you stop at a sentence for a long time.

That feeling — that's being seen.

After You Get the Result

  • Copy: copy the text directly and paste it anywhere;
  • Export: export as image, text, or MD. See Insight History & Export;
  • Revisit: every insight is saved in your history, ready to flip back through;
  • Run it again: running the same batch of notes through a different perspective often reveals something completely different.

A Few Tips for Better Use

  1. Wait until you have 30 notes before trying. With too few notes, the insight can only see so much. Note first, then look for insight.
  2. Switch perspectives on the same range, run it several times. Six keys open the same door, and you see different rooms.
  3. Bring a question. "Why do I keep hesitating over the same thing lately?" — with a question first, the insight has somewhere to land.
  4. Disagree if you disagree. Insight isn't a conclusion, it's a mirror. If you think it's wrong, that itself is useful information.

FAQ

Q: Will the insight use all my notes? Currently yes. We're working on a feature to let you pick the range; you'll pick how much, it sees how much.

Q: Does it need a network? Yes.

Q: Is the result accurate? It only states things that truly exist in your notes, but "interpretation" has no standard answer. We suggest treating it as the start of a conversation with yourself, not a verdict. See Two Rules and Boundaries.

Q: Can free users use it? Not supported.

Q: Will an insight change my notes? No. It only reads, it doesn't write. Your original notes always stay original.
