💡 Our Story
The Starting Point
We always believed that "recording" should be effortless and enjoyable.
But have you been through moments like these —
Sometimes you think of something, and because you didn't jot it down, you forget it in a flash.
Or you take page after page of notes in class or at a meeting, and when you look back at what you wrote, you can't remember a single key point.
Or you come across a great article, tap Save, and it scatters across places, and then you have no idea where it ended up.
We've been through all of this far too many times ourselves. So a little over two years ago, we started building inFin.
A Stubbornly Plain Principle
Recording shouldn't be a chore.
The hard part is the hesitation before you start: which tool? Should I categorize? Where to save it? Will I have trouble finding it later? What does long-term recording actually give me?
The moment those thoughts surface, half of that fresh inspiration has already run off.
So our principle is: keep it simple, but make it capable. No learning curve, no overthinking, no fiddling. However it feels natural, that's how it should work.
Why So Many Features
A lot of people ask us why we have so many features.
Actually, it's not that we wanted to make features — we're just moving forward along the real needs of our users.
But we always remember one thing: no matter how many features, they must not get in the way of recording itself.
So in inFin, every feature is quiet. When you need it, it's there; when you don't, it doesn't bother you.
Like a fine, well-made knife — you don't feel its existence, you just find cutting things very smooth.
On "Cleanliness"
The most common feedback we've received over these two years: "Your app is really clean and comfortable."
Clean, because we hide the complexity behind the scenes.
Every button's position, every line of text's spacing, every animation's duration — we've tuned them again and again. We hope that when you use it, you don't feel the "tool" at all. You're just recording naturally, like breathing.
Our Stance on AI
What the AI era lacks has never been knowledge. External knowledge is searchable anywhere.
What's truly scarce is the context about yourself.
For example, what you jot down in inFin — why you're anxious, what you were wrestling with the last time you changed careers, the thing you say doesn't matter but you clearly care about deeply.
These experiences and thoughts that belong only to you — that's your real context.
So the value of AI shouldn't be to think for you, but to help you see: what you keep paying attention to, and what you've been ignoring all along.
That's also the two rules we've set for AI (see Two Rules and Boundaries):
- Only what truly exists in your notes.
- Your voice always comes before the AI's.
No matter how good an AI summary looks, it's only a shadow. A shadow must never cover the person.
The Three Steps
- Step 1: capture everything. What you think, hear, and see should all be easy to note. We've already reached "nothing gets missed" at this step.
- Step 2: help you internalize and grow. That's what we're doing now. Recording is just the beginning; the hard part is — how do you see yourself through all these notes?
- Step 3: help you create output. That's the final step. Once you're clear on what you think, output follows naturally.
Recording is input. Insight is one of the ways we help you internalize and grow. Output is growth.
Finally
The essence of recording has never been storage — it's the start of thinking.
Over a lifetime, a person has hundreds of thousands of thoughts. Most vanish; only a tiny fraction ever gets written down. And the ones that do get written down may end up changing you, changing the world, changing a great many things.
We hope inFin helps you keep more. One day, it will understand you more, too.
Only by growing inward can you bloom outward.
